Cheryl Terry AKA Dani MiCormick began her professional entertainment career in Las Vegas performing with Debbie Reynolds at the Desert Inn Hotel. Because of her background in classical music and dance training she received from The fabulous Miss Eartha Kitt, she was perfect for the big production night club acts that played Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe.
She also performed with the legendary Eddie Kendricks of the “Temptations “, Donna Summer, Ann-Margret, Helen Reddy, Olivia Newton John, Jerry Lewis , Glen Campbell, Sam Moore of “Sam & Dave”, Dorothy Moore , King Errisson, and the Johnny Mann Singers. Her work with these artists also included television appearances on the Tonight Show, Don Kirshner’s In Concert, Midnight Special, New Years Rockin’ Eve, Ann – Margret Special, Rodney Dangerfield Special and the NBC Christmas Special.
Soon the music industry came calling and she was chosen to be a member of the “Friends of Distinction”, a successful group on RCA records, who already had several hits under their belt, ”Grazing in the Grass”, Love or Let Me Be Lonely” and “Going In Circles.” Her recording career was launched and work began immediately on their new album titled “Love Can Make It Easier.” Cheryl was featured as lead vocalist on the album singing, “No One’s Gonna be a Fool Forever,” and “That’s Not The Way We Planned It,” by George S. Clinton. This was a very exciting time in her life as she traveled all over the country on promotional tours with “The Friends”, as well as appearing on Soul Train, Merv Griffin and The Mike Douglas Show. Her most memorable experiences with the group include an invitation to perform with other RCA artists at the first Martin Luther King Memorial Concert at the Omni arena, in Atlanta, Georgia and performing with them at the Onda Nueva Festival, in Caracas Venezuela.
After leaving “The Friends”, Cheryl continued working in the record business, recording a duet with King Errisson, “Looking Back on Loving You” which was released on his Nice album, and later traveled with him to the Bahamas to perform as a guest artist in his show at the Paradise Island Resort. She also added songwriting to her talents . She wrote “Drummer Man” for the Defranco family which was released on their “Heartbeat It’s a Love Beat” album, co-wrote the Emotions hit single “Are You Through With My Heart”, released on their Sincerely Album and co – wrote “One of a Kind Paradise” and “Gasoline” for Steve Arrington’s Dancin’ In the Key of Life Album. At the same time, she provided back up vocals for other great artists like Minnie Ripperton, Donna Summer,Thelma Houston, Billy Davis Jr., Steve Arrington, Maxine Nightingale, Garth Hudson, Robbie Robertson, Lola Falana, Paul Jabara, Le Pompamouse, Oliver Walrus and many others.
Writing and producing music remains a strong creative force in Cheryl’s life. her lifelong spiritual odyssey has led her back to her artistic core, reclaiming her birth name, and a return to writing sacred heart centered metaphysical compositions. Currently she is releasing her First Single, “Heart of Stars” on CD Baby. Infused with the wisdom of the ages, her music transports the listener to an oasis of peace and transformation, creating the perfect backdrop for today’s evolving human experience.
